Booking and your first visit
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Manor Lakes?
No. You can book directly online or by phone. You only need a GP referral if you are using a Medicare chronic condition management plan or a DVA Veteran Card.
What happens at my first chiropractic visit?
We talk about your health and goals, do a gentle assessment, and explain what we find and what it costs before any treatment. Nothing happens without your agreement.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, such as activewear. Please bring any scans or reports you have.
Do you have early morning or evening appointments?
Our opening hours are TBC. Follow us on Instagram for our hours and opening date.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule, which lets us offer the time to another patient on our wait list. To reschedule, call us on TBC or reply to your appointment confirmation SMS.
How do I book for my child or baby?
Book in your child's name and with their details, not yours. This keeps their clinical records accurate and makes sure the right reminders are sent.
How many appointments will I need?
It depends on what we find and on your goals. After your first visit you receive a written plan with a clear timeline, and we review your progress together at set points.
Fees and health funds
How much does a chiropractor cost at Manor Lakes Chiropractic Centre?
An initial consultation and assessment is TBC and a standard appointment is TBC. We accept private health insurance.
Is there a deposit for my first appointment?
Yes. A deposit of TBC holds your first appointment and comes off your fee on the day. It is refunded in full if you cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice, and is not refundable for later cancellations or if you do not attend.
Can I claim chiropractic on my private health insurance?
Yes. We accept private health insurance, and most extras policies include chiropractic. Check your policy for your annual limit.
Do you accept WorkSafe, WorkCover, TAC and DVA?
Yes. We see patients with an accepted WorkSafe (WorkCover) or TAC claim, and patients with an All Conditions or Specific Conditions Veteran Card from DVA, with no gap fee.
Can I use Medicare for chiropractic care?
You may be able to, if your GP has placed you on a chronic condition management plan and referred you for chiropractic care. Part of your care may be covered, and we accept bulk billing. Your GP can tell you whether you are eligible.
Chiropractic care and safety
What does a chiropractor do?
A chiropractor is a registered health professional who assesses and cares for problems with the spine, joints, muscles and nervous system, using hands-on care, exercise and practical advice. In Australia, chiropractors complete five years of university study and are registered with Ahpra.
Is chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic care is generally safe when it is provided by a registered chiropractor after a thorough assessment. Like all health care it carries some risk, most commonly mild soreness for a day or two. We screen every patient thoroughly at their first visit, explain everything before any treatment, and work alongside your GP and other health professionals when needed.
Will I need an X-ray or scan?
You may. Whether a scan is needed depends on what we find at your assessment. If imaging will help guide your care, we arrange the referral.
Babies, children and pregnancy
Do you see babies and children?
Yes. Dr Daniel De Witt (Chiropractor) has additional training in paediatric chiropractic, and uses gentle, low-force techniques adapted to your child's age. A parent or carer stays in the room for every appointment, and we work alongside your lactation consultant (IBCLC), GP, paediatrician or dentist.
Is chiropractic care suitable during pregnancy?
Care in pregnancy is adapted to each trimester, using pregnancy supports and gentle techniques. We take a full health history first and work alongside your GP or obstetrician.
Myofunctional therapy
What is orofacial myofunctional therapy?
Orofacial myofunctional therapy is a program of targeted exercises that retrains how the tongue, lips and jaw rest and move, to support healthy breathing, chewing, swallowing and jaw comfort. We see children and adults, and work alongside dentists, orthodontists and speech pathologists.
Is myofunctional therapy for children or adults?
Both. We see children once they can follow and practise simple exercises at home, and adults of any age. Exercises are adapted to each person, and for children they are playful and built around family life.
