What cranial chiropractic is

Cranial chiropractic is a gentle way of working with the head, jaw, spine and pelvis, using light, sustained touch rather than a thrust. It aims to ease tension in the muscles and tissues around these areas.

A session may include:

  • Light contact at the head, along the spine and at the pelvis
  • Gentle holds at the ribs, shoulders and jaw
  • For babies, very light touch, with a parent in the room

Calm and quiet. Many people find cranial chiropractic relaxing enough to drift off on the table.

Who it can help

People usually ask us about cranial chiropractic for:

  • Babies, as part of gentle care alongside feeding support and tongue-tie care
  • Children who are more comfortable with very gentle, light-touch care
  • Adults with head, jaw or neck tension who prefer a light-touch approach
  • Pregnancy and after the birth, as a calm, gentle option alongside pregnancy care
  • Stress and tension, when a quiet, restful approach suits alongside other care

What a session involves

Every plan follows the same steps, adapted to you or your child.

  1. Listen

We take a full health history and hear what you would like help with, and screen thoroughly so nothing is missed.

  2. Explain

What cranial chiropractic involves, how it fits your plan, what we suggest and what it costs. Then you decide.

  3. Settle

You lie comfortably on the table, fully clothed, with supports where you need them. Babies may be cared for on the table or in a parent's arms.

  4. Light touch

Gentle, sustained contact at the head, spine and pelvis. We check in with you throughout, and you can pause at any time.

  5. Review

We talk about how you felt during and after the session, and review your plan at set points.

How it fits with your other care

Cranial chiropractic is one part of a wider plan. It often sits alongside:

Very gentle. The touch is light, and many people find it relaxing enough to drift off. Some notice warmth or a sense of release, and some notice very little during the session.

Yes. It is one of the gentlest approaches we use, with very light touch. A parent stays in the room throughout.

Yes, if your extras cover includes chiropractic. We accept private health insurance.
