What NET is
Neuro Emotional Technique is based on the idea that stressful experiences can be linked to physical patterns in the body, such as tension or pain that flares when life is busy.
A session brings together:
- Muscle testing: light pressure on an outstretched arm to check how your body responds
- A short guided process where you bring a feeling or memory to mind
- Gentle releases on specific pressure points
- A gentle spinal adjustment
You do not have to share details. NET does not ask you to talk a memory through in depth. You can keep it private, and you are in control of the session.
NET and kinesiology
Because NET uses muscle testing, it is often described as a form of kinesiology. It is its own technique, used within chiropractic care.
Who it can help
People usually ask us about NET when they:
- Notice physical symptoms, such as tension or pain, that seem to flare with stress
- Feel their progress has stalled and want to explore how stress fits in
- Are looking for a gentle, mind-body approach alongside the rest of their chiropractic care
NET is suited to teens and adults.
What a session involves
Every plan follows the same steps, adapted to you.
Listen
We hear what brings you in, your health history and what you would like to work on, and screen thoroughly so nothing is missed.
Explain
How NET works, what each step involves, what we suggest and what it costs, before anything starts. Then you decide.
Muscle test
Lying or seated and fully clothed, you hold your arm out while we apply light pressure to check how your body responds.
Recall and adjust
You bring a feeling or memory to mind while we use gentle releases on specific pressure points, then make a gentle spinal adjustment.
Review
We check in on how you are going at each visit, alongside the rest of your plan, and space out visits as you progress.
You can pause or stop at any point. Some people feel relaxed afterwards and some feel tired for the rest of the day.
How it fits with your other care
NET is one of several techniques Dr Daniel De Witt (Chiropractor) uses. Your plan may combine it with:
- ABC Technique
Whole-body structural adjusting for posture and recurring pain.
ABC Technique- Syntropy chiropractic
Gentle, specific adjusting when a lighter touch suits you better.
Syntropy chiropractic- Cranial chiropractic
Calm, low-force chiropractic care for the head, spine and pelvis.
Cranial chiropractic
Questions about NET
What is Neuro Emotional Technique?
Neuro Emotional Technique, or NET, is a mind-body technique used by chiropractors. It combines muscle testing, a short guided process where you bring a feeling or memory to mind, and gentle spinal adjustments.
Is NET the same as kinesiology?
NET uses muscle testing, which is also used in kinesiology, so it is often grouped with it. NET is its own technique, developed by a chiropractor and used within chiropractic care.
Do I have to talk about my emotions in NET?
Only as much as you want to. NET does not require you to share the details of a memory or feeling. You stay in control, and you can pause or stop at any time.
What does an NET session feel like?
Calm and gentle. You stay fully clothed, the muscle testing uses light pressure on your arm, and the adjustments are gentle. Some people feel relaxed afterwards and some feel tired for the rest of the day.
Can NET be combined with other chiropractic care?
Yes. NET is one part of your plan, and it can sit alongside ABC Technique, Syntropy chiropractic or functional rehabilitation, depending on what we find.
Do I need a referral for NET?
No. You can book directly online or by phone.
Can I claim NET on my health fund?
Yes, if your extras cover includes chiropractic. We accept private health insurance.
