What ABC Technique is

ABC stands for Advanced BioStructural Correction. It takes a whole-body view: rather than only chasing the spot that hurts, it looks at how your whole body is holding itself.

The idea behind ABC is that some structural patterns, such as a forward-leaning posture or rotation through the ribs and pelvis, keep putting load on the same areas. ABC adjustments are made in a set order, working through the body so each change supports the next.

At your assessment we look at:

  • Your posture from the front, side and back, standing and seated
  • How your pelvis, ribs, spine and head line up and move together
  • Patterns that have built up after injuries, pregnancy or years at a desk
  • How your body responds after each adjustment

ABC is one part of your plan. It sits alongside exercise, practical advice and regular retests, so you can see how you are progressing.

Who it can help

People usually come to us for ABC Technique when they:

  • Have back or neck pain that keeps coming back
  • Notice changes in their posture, such as rounded shoulders or the head sitting forward (see desk and posture strain)
  • Feel stiff or tight across several areas rather than in one spot
  • Have headaches with neck and shoulder tension
  • Want a whole-body approach alongside their training or rehabilitation

ABC is suited to teens and adults. For babies and children we use gentle, low-force techniques through paediatric chiropractic.

What a session involves

Every plan follows the same five steps, adapted to you.

  1. Assess

We hear what brings you in and what you want to get back to, then assess your posture standing and seated, how you move, and screen thoroughly so nothing is missed.

  2. Explain

What we found, the patterns we want to work on, what we suggest, how long it should take and what it costs. Then you decide.

  3. Adjust

ABC adjustments are made in standing, seated and lying positions, including to the ribs and pelvis. Some are firm, and you may feel pressure or a stretch. We explain each one and ask before we start.

  4. Move

A few simple exercises and practical advice for work, sleep and training, so the changes have support between visits.

  5. Review

We retest your posture and movement at set points, track your progress against your goals, and space out visits as you improve.

Tell us at any time if something does not feel right, and we will adapt the technique or stop.

Questions about ABC Technique

What is ABC Technique?

ABC Technique, or Advanced BioStructural Correction, is a whole-body chiropractic approach that assesses posture and adjusts the structural patterns behind recurring pain in a set order. At Manor Lakes Chiropractic Centre we combine it with exercise and practical advice.

Is ABC Technique painful?

It should not be painful. Some ABC adjustments are firm and you may feel pressure or a stretch, and mild soreness for a day or two is common. We explain each adjustment first and adapt the pressure to you.

How is ABC different from other chiropractic care?

ABC works through the whole body in a set order rather than focusing only on where it hurts, and it includes adjustments in standing, seated and lying positions. Many people notice it feels different from chiropractic care they have had before.

How many ABC sessions will I need?

It depends on what we find, how long you have had your symptoms and your goals. You get a written plan with a clear timeline after your first visit, and we retest your posture and movement at set points.

Do I need a referral for ABC Technique?

No. You can book directly online or by phone.

Can I claim ABC Technique on my health fund?

Yes, if your extras cover includes chiropractic. We accept private health insurance.
